‘A Storybook Landscape’ 2012 Oil on Canvas 20 x20cm
The colours of the Northern autumn are so saturated sometimes you walk outside and you get a shock of colour filling your eyes. I think this kind of conifer landscape merges in my mind with storybook images I read as a child so the painting’s more naive in style.
There’s more texture in these smaller paintings too. I wanted to evoke the crustiness of bark.
